Scare Tactics – Fear Sells

Are you tired of all the bad news in the world? Are you tired of so many websites selling products and services based upon fear? Are you tired of hearing about how powerful the devil is? Of course, fear is a powerful motivating source. Have you wondered how folks who live in “Tornado Alley” aka the Midwest, get hammered almost every year by cataclysmic tornados? Or what about the people who live right next to volcanos, or earthquake fault zones? What about those who live in perpetual war zones? These people have a totally different take on responding to “end times” propaganda! For the Christian, it most certainly goes without saying that we must be ready at ALL TIMES to give an account of what we did with our time and talents, regardless of the signs   of the times! That’s why I’ve been trying to stay focused on the love and power of God’s mercy, grace, and lordship in my life, as opposed to all the doom and gloom happening out there! Amidst all the turmoil, Jesus Christ is supremely king of all. So, back to the point. In the face of obvious and diverse dangers should we not prepare, or should we put total trust in God? This is an unfair question! A farmer puts his trust in God: before, when he considers the market and his costs; during, when he preps the fields and plants; and after when the weather and season has its effect on maturation and harvest! All that is summed up in one word – SYNERGY! We must work WITH the Lord! It’s the whole process that counts! Consider this. If you put up food for a rainy day, so to speak, and you end up not needing it, you are in a prime position to share with those that don’t!
If you have equipment, supplies, or other practical gear that sit idle, when the time comes, you could be a life saver! This does NOT mean you have little or no faith for God’s provision! Expressed in a negative manner, you can’t share what you don’t have! Are their extremes, of course! Read the Word, walk in the Spirit, and be attentive to the needs of others! Everything proceeds from love – fear not!
